Ruckley Hall Farm

The Future

We have big dreams and they are not showing signs of slowing!

The opportunities we have at Ruckley Home Farm leaves us with plenty of scope for expansion. We are fortunate enough to have access to some 20 acres around the housing cluster and our plan is to run a Care Farm where we will keep small animals such as chickens, donkeys and goats. The aim is to be as sustainable and organic as possible including growing our own vegetables in our raised vegetable and herb garden. All residents will be invited and supported to take part in the day-to-day tasks of running the Care Farm.

The space available in the walled garden is ideal for summer BBQs and garden game activities, a large trampoline has already been installed. The space can also lend itself to activities such as yoga, music and art lessons. We plan on using charitable investments to finance external activities that will enable access to the wider community. We hope to purchase a mini-bus for trips around the local area, Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock and Church Stretton are all a 20-minute drive away. This will allow us to access existing organised off-site activities such as Sharks Swimming Club, Horse riding with the RDA, dance and art clubs, Special Olympics, disco nights, shopping, Sports at Sundorne, Boccia Bowls and much much more!

The currently concreted patch of land in the garden is planned for later development into a staff office and workshops, where we will look to encourage the development of new skills and learning, such as IT, with the hope that other non-residents could be included.

Living in a small hamlet community is already showing its benefits, with a neighbouring family who have grown organic vegetables for many years offering their support in an advisory role to shorten our road to success.

We hope that parents and families will embrace all aspects of their family members’ life and strive with us for continual development of the project.
